A Friday Freebie

I subscribe to several e-newsletters that have free patterns.  Crafty girls have to watch their budgets!  This morning, one of my favorites, AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns, had a HUGE list of baby afghans.  I particularly like this one.  It is a great project for a confident beginner, using the most basic of stitches.  It should work up pretty quickly.  It uses minimal supplies, and it makes such an interesting visual pattern without a lot of extra effort.

Check out AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns for more patterns and ideas!

Also, starting next week, as part of our Monthly Craftivism Challenge (which is making scarves for the Special Olympics Scarf Project), I'll be posting some "learn to knit" tutorials, so stay tuned!  If you'd like to join in, here's a list of supplies:

RED HEART® “Super Saver® 1 skein each 319 Cherry Red (A), Soft Navy 387 (B) - see the young man on the Soft Navy? There's a free pattern on the label specifically for the Special Olympics scarf!
(now you've also learned how to say Cherry Red in French and Spanish - you are so clever!)

Size 10 knitting needles (6 mm)
Yarn needle (not shown)

I buy quite a bit of RHY at WalMart - price is right, and usually I only need a skein or 2 of a given color. If I can't find it there (and we have 3 that are pretty easy to get to from our house so you know I really REALLY looked high and low), I go to our local Michael's. And THEN if I can't find it or I absolutely need to be sure I have a large quantity that's all the same, I use Herrschner's.

Whether you knit or crochet, you can make scarves for the project.  Feel free to make as many as you'd like!  More information can be found on the Red Heart website.

Have a great weekend!
Ann
